The following are general guidelines for you to use to when working on your designs -
- Total of inks should be below 5%, with each ink not exceeding 1%, of the total pack weight. (Based on the assumption that the other components of the pack also conform to EN13432 if they are not, then it is 5% of the weight of the label)
- Water based varnish preferred
- Avoid high levels of ink coverage i.e. solid colours
- Avoid opaque and metallic colours – metallic inks contain high levels of heavy metals which are hazardous to the environment
