Berkshire Labels recently went ape!
Away from labels and stickers, 19 members of the Berkshire Labels team recently undertook the Go Ape experience, a 'high-wire forest adventure'.
For anyone unfamiliar with Go Ape it's a giant obstacle course up in the trees using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and wire and topped off with the country's best zip lines.
It was a fantastic experience for all, with many conquering their fear of heights or at least putting them to one side for the day whilst others descended back into ape mode like a duck to water!

The Green Mile
As a further enhancement to our environmental commitment we are pleased to launch our latest objective, The Green Mile.
Our objective is simple, to encourage employees to use their cars less and walk or cycle to work if possible. Our commitment is also simple, any individual that walks or cycles to work will be financially rewarded. All staff are entitled to fill out one of our "Green Mile" cards each day, at the end of the month the individual is to total up their "Green Mile Days" from which they will be reimbursed in their following months salary.

As part of Berkshire Labels commitment to a greener environment www.thegreenlabelcompany.co.uk we have signed up to the 10:10 project which aims to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that by working together we can achieve a 10% cut in the UK's carbon emissions in 2010.
Cutting 10% in one year is a bold target, but for most of us it's an achievable one, and is in line with what scientists say we need over the next 18 months. We now know for certain that unless we act quickly to reduce our use of dirty fossil fuels, humanity will face terrible problems in the years to come. Politicians have so far failed to do what needs to be done, so it's time for ordinary people to step in and show that we're ready to defend our children's futures. It's now or never for the climate.
As a company we are fully committed towards achieving the 10% goal by 2010.

The start and finish of the 13 miles was on the famous Long Walk stretching from the Castle up to the Copper Horse. One of the hottest Autumn days recorded, it was not ideal running conditions, but she managed to complete it in 2:02 hours, along with 5000 other runners. Well done Debbie.
